Landscaping

Cut Branches Away From Roof

Keep branches ~ 3 feet away from roof.  Rodents are larger animals are amazing climbers and can get on roofs even when you least expect it.  BUT they want to go the easy way.  A house with tree branches directly going to the roof will have many more animals running around on the roof - making it much more likely that they will find or make a way in.

Pick Up Fallen Citrus Fruit.

Animals love free food.  Oranges and other fruits fallen to the ground will certainly attract critters to your property.  If the home is critter proofed across its entry points, this will not matter.  But for unprotected homes, keeping fruit off the yard is one step homeowners can take to protect their property from animal problems.

Declutter Yard.

Rats and snakes want to be hidden undercover.  Thick cluttered landscaping surrounding the home will provide these critters with natural nesting sites just outside your home.
